Celebration time!

On Saturday Amirah was 15.

I know it sounds corny - but it doesn't seem possible. She was the cutest, funniest looking baby, with serious brown eyes and the wildest hair I have even seen on a baby! I am delighted that she has grown into such a beautiful, helpful person :-)

Amirah was the only child in our house not into gadgets, and didn't have either a camera (!) or an ipod. However, when the new chromatic Nanos came out she decided she wanted a purple one. I guess the purple ones are really popular as it was hard to find one in the shops or online, but good old M&S came to the rescue and delivered a beautifully wrapped purple Nano on the morning of her birthday. Thanks to Camilla, who had been saving hard for months, Amirah also got a digital camera :-)

As is our tradition, the birthday child picks their favorite dinner, so we had a roast with home made nut roast. There seemed an awful lot of candles and I nearly lost my eyebrows carrying the lighted cake to the table! I think she had a good day :-)

Sunday was Mothers Day in the UK. The children had obviously spent time planing it and bought me breakfast in bed (toast, fruit, yogurt and juice). This was followed by wonderful home made cards (the best sort) and presents. Rhowan and Harmony had made me a necklace of pasta shapes, Camilla and Amirah gave me a lovely box of chocolates, and they all gave me an envelope full of vouchers to trade for 'a cup of tea', 'and hours babysitting' etc. What a great idea :-) They also bought me this lovely flower cake for after dinner.

On Monday I was up early to see Dave off on his 16 day trip to Dubai. It was an eventful weekend :-)
