Diamonds, shoes and lunch!

I was determined to post more frequently - but equally determined NOT to post any without photos, cos its a bit boring!

However, here we are a week later, with lots going on and no photos.

On Thursday I suddenly noticed I had lost a diamond from my engagement ring :-( Maybe not the worse thing in the world, but my heart sunk. The chances of finding a diamond in the floor of my rambling, chaotic, three story Victorian house are less than zero. My ring's at the jewellers now, awaiting repair after a matching diamond was located. Hopefully it will be back by the end of the week, as it feels really odd without it. The jeweller said rings should be checked every year. I never knew that. I also wear my late grandmas lovely engagement ring (she married in 1932) so I am taking that in to be checked tomorrow!

On Friday I spoke at a regional lunch for the Lancashire Woman Ambassadors. The idea was to promote the Ambassadors to other business women in the region, and to show the value of networking.I was a little worried when a couple of women approached me early on and said they had heard me speak at an event 18 months ago. Was that a good or bad thing? Apparently it was a good thing and they were looking forward to an update - phew! The event went well, there was a great atmosphere, and lots of people to speak to afterwards :-) The wonderful Nina Kahn, who helped organise the lunch promised to send me some of her photos. Hurry up Nina!

As usual, my shoes resulted in lots of nice comments - even when shopping after the event! To save time all my work shoes and bags are red, and they now seem to be recognized in their own right - networking tip there girls!

This week I am doing a couple of workshops at the international Prowess Conference. The first on e-commerce, the other titled 'My career, my pace'. There is an amazing line up, and is fully booked, so a dedicated post to follow.

A week today I shall be in Bulgaria with Camilla (13).

Two weeks today the HDR book has to be finished and with the publishers.

Three weeks today Dave will be in Dubai.

BUSY, BUSY, BUSY!

Maybe I should take a photo of my favorite work shoes to add to this post?

  1. I just wanted say I attended the Lancashire Woman’s Ambassadors Lunch last Friday and thought you and the other speakers did a wonderful job! It was only my second ever networking event and I felt encouraged and emboldened to go out there and make the most of my work. I have just set up my own PR and Events company (Jan 09) and your interesting, witty and personal account of how you got where you are today was truly inspiring. Now I don't have 8 children (I am only 25!) but I do have 4 horses and at times juggling them and work, now especially trying to get my business off the ground has looked daunting - but yourself, Wendy and Sabiha's tips and comments has made me think anything is possible. Thanks again for the words of wisdom! Kate (Southport, Lancashire)
